Joe Dehlin (the church's Cheif Information Officer) announced the availability today of new.lds.org. You should really check it out!
Brother Dehlin lists the following features:
Great new search (try out the facets!)
Prophets and Apostles Speak Today
Church News and Events
Church Organization
Temples
Humanitarian Service
“Our Heavenly Father’s Plan”
New e-store
New Ward Calendar (with Google Calendar integration) and Ward Directory
My Notebook (this is amazing and will sync with your mobile device in about a month or so). To try it out, login and go to scriptures or general conference. When you mouse-over a paragraph, you can tag and mark stuff and type in your own notes.
And so on, and so on…
I bounced around on it a little this afternoon and was really impressed! After you log in you can access your ward directory through the tools menu. It's really well laid out and easy to navigate.
My understanding is that once they get the bugs worked out this will replace the main site at LDS.org.
I have the Motorola Droid from Verizon and I love it. I'm testing an android editor for my web site. I hope it works! (If you're reading this it probably is.)
I've been using the Android version of the Gospel Library for about a month now and I really like it. I haven't used it heavily, but when I don't have my scriptures with me it's a quick way to look something up or read along with the lesson in Elders Quorum. If you've got a mobile device that is supported you should give it a whirl.
New Mobile Apps Available - With the combined resources of the Gospel Library and the Mormon Channel radio station, you can study or listen to the scriptures and other Church publications anytime on your BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, or Palm. Learn more at our mobile apps page. [LDS.org Home Page]
